Today's technology is so advanced that researchers and scientist have found a way to allow the human brain, by thought, to perform different tasks ranging from: turning on home interior lights, moving the cursor on your computer, and moving a robotic arm to feed one's self. This list is just a few of the accomplishments of Neuroscientists at the University of PIttsburgh.
More research is planned to be carried out to cover more complex tasks that can be accomplished by mere thought of the human brain. This research has been mainly done for patients who are paralyzed or have had a sever stroke allowing them very minimal motor skills with any of their body parts. This is more so true with people who can't move nor talk.
Imagine the implications of this research. Now you could, even if you're not paralyzed, think of what you would like a particular object to do (given that it's connected to this new technology). You could have your computer be controlled by your mere thoughts. It is a lot of thinking to do some of these things but for some geeks like myself I wouldn't mind trying to do my computer work with just my thoughts.
One note: I can see where this could be a thought-intense process and could cause people headaches given that they need to think about each task that needs to be done. Our natural bodies allow us to not think of everything that needs to be done. Examples of these are scratching, stretching, yawning (which are things a paralyzed person couldn't do anyway).
